The Garrison Group’s History

Glen P. Garrison came to Springfield to join his father-in-law in commercial real estate in 1969. After decades of amassed experience, Glen created The Garrison Group in 1991 to be an independent commercial brokerage that focused on development activities and helping commercial portfolios grow successfully.

Garrison Group, with Glen’s leadership, led the development of several significant properties in the Springfield area, such as an approximately 200 acre area in southwest Springfield to bring in new retailers and economic growth in the region. In the mid-2000’s, Glen began seeking to expand the business of Garrison Group into property management, just the first in a long line of new endeavors the company has taken on and excelled in. By 2009, David Plake joined Garrison Group to develop the property management division, which had four properties under management at the time.

When David joined Garrison Group, we were a small but ambitious firm. Over the next several years, our dedication to clients fueled steady expansion, and by the late 2010s we were managing scores of properties across the region.

In 2018, Garrison Group became an Accredited Management Organization with the Institute of Real Estate Management, which is one of the top certifications in the property management industry. 2022 marked Glen selling his remaining shares of the business to David Plake, but continued to remain a vital part of the business, providing valuable insights and assistance to keep the business running strong.

In 2023, Garrison Group became affiliated with Keller Williams and Keller Williams Commercial, connecting the commercial brokerage part of the business with industry-leading training for new brokers while utilizing state-of-the-art technology to support clients and brokers alike. This added the company to the national network of over 2500 commercial brokers to serve clients with needs that span the nation. Now, Garrison Group continues to thrive as the leading commercial brokerage and property management solution across Central Illinois and now into St. Louis.
